Eye Health
We work every day to actively contribute to improving people’s eye health and well-being
We care about eye health. We are committed to developing and providing ophthalmic solutions that make a real difference in people’s quality of life by addressing conditions that affect our eyes.
From common conditions such as dry eye or eye allergies to more complex diseases such as macular degeneration or diabetic macular edema, including specialized care for the cornea, eyelids, and inflammatory conditions such as blepharitis—each of these conditions requires a specialized approach and in-depth knowledge.
Eye diseases
Dry eye disease (DED)
Dry eye disease (DED), also known as dry eye, xerophthalmia or keratoconjunctivitis sicca, is a common condition that occurs when the quantity or quality of tears is insufficient to keep the surface of the eye properly lubricated.
Ocular allergy
Ocular allergy is one of the most common conditions encountered in daily clinical practice, and this term encompasses a broad group of conditions involving different immunological mechanisms but sharing common signs and symptoms, which we will explain below.
Corneal care
The cornea is the part of the eye that allows light to pass from the outside into the eye. It also protects the iris and the lens. To function properly, it must remain transparent and maintain the correct curvature. The cornea is made up of several layers, the outermost of which is the corneal epithelium.
Eyelid care
The eyelids are the movable folds of skin that cover the front of the eye, and their main function is to protect the eyeball. Eyelashes grow from the edge of the eyelids, and this is where the Meibomian glands are located.
(AMD) Age-related Macular Degeneration
AMD, or Age-related Macular Degeneration, is a degenerative eye condition that affects the central part of the retina, known as the macula. It causes progressive deterioration of the cells in the retinal epithelium, leading to blurred central vision.
Diabetic Macular Oedema (DMO)
Diabetic Macular Oedema (DMO) is a complication associated with diabetic retinopathy and the leading cause of vision loss in diabetic patients. It is the leading cause of blindness in the working-age population in industrialised countries, with a prevalence of around 7.5% among diabetic patients.
Blepharitis: inflammation of the eyelids
Blepharitis is an inflammation of the eyelids in which the eyes become red and irritated, and itchy flakes and dandruff form on the eyelashes. It is a fairly common eye condition caused by bacteria or a skin problem, such as dandruff on the scalp or rosacea (a chronic condition involving redness and inflammation of the skin).
